There were plenty of hair-raising style disasters on the red carpet at this year’s Academy Awards – and not all of them were gowns.
While Hollywood’s biggest stars may have access to the top stylists taking hold of their tresses, even the priciest products don’t always spell success when it comes to red carpet style.
From lopsided styles to untrimmed bears, FEMAIL has compiled a few of the worst coiffed celebs that could be seen at the 89th Oscars.
Oh dear: Olivia Culpo’s bangs looked greasy and flat against her forehead

While she may have stunned onlookers in her dazzling silver gown, Olivia Culpo’s look above the neck wasn’t quite at the same standard.
The radiant actress had her locks tied back in a low ponytail, with her bangs side-swept across her forehead, plastered down in an unflattering wet look.
Sofia Boutella similarly fell flat in the bangs department, with short-trimmed band that weren’t properly combed to look sleek, rather coming out looking spidery and uneven.
50 Shades Darker actress Dakota Johnson was already a candidate for worst-dressed with her awkward golden gown complete with giant bow and nightgown-like bodice.
Plain Jane: The top half of Dakota’s hair was pullef back from her face, while the rest was left to hang loose around her shoulders in a lacklustre style that did nothing to boost her look
Odd: Meanwhile Sofia Boutella’s bangs looked like they had been cut several centimeters too short, and looked awkwardly separated as she posed for pictures
What a mess: The rest of her hair hung around one shoulder, a style that came courtesy of a rather severe side parting
But her hairstyle didn’t do her any favors either, with an off-center parting and strands near the front pulled into a knot on the back of her head.
From the front at least, the style did nothing to frame Dakota’s face, and actually caused her to look older than her 27 years.
Jessica Biel was the embodiment of a golden goddess in her stunning gown, but her geisha-inspired hairdo left a bit to be desired.
Razor? Casey Affleck’s unshaven beard and shaggy hairstyle were reminiscent of Tom Hanks’ marooned character on Cast Away
Her long locks were gathered and twisted into a loose loop that twisted flat at the back, but looked as if it was about to fall out at any moment.
The twist also left an asymmetrical bagginess on one side of her head. Overall the frumpy look left the beautiful brunette appearing a bit aged.
As for the men’s side of things, Casey Affleck seemed to have kept up his unkempt look that he has been sporting for some time, looking more ready for a hike in the wild than a night on the world’s most glamorous red carpet.
His curly black hair was pulled behind his head, his beard looked wild and untrimmed.
