Stars and stylists really upped their game this year at the Emmys. So much so that selecting a worst dressed list was a challenge. But this is a red carpet, and no red carpet is complete without a few misses.
Anna Chlumsky
We have to applaud the Veep star for leaving nothing on the Emmys dressing table. But from the color (so close to her skin tone) to the fit (it does nothing to highlight her figure) and the overall volume (so.much.fabric.), the whole thing didn’t work for our favorite presidential aide.
Sarah Hyland
This look is not so much a worst as a wish-it-was-better. We love a dress over pants combo on the red carpet and nearly everything from designer Monique Lhuillier, but the side trains were a bit puzzling on the Modern Family star’s top.
Sofia Vergara
Same goes for this Versace dress for Vergara. It’s fine, but anything Vergara could put on her gorgeous body would probably be fine. We’re getting a bit of déjà vu on the silhouette, which is her favorite, but with none of the striking color she’s worn before.
Heidi Klum
Heidi Klum also looks good in just about anything. Seriously, those abs. Though this Michael Kors dress is a little confusing . One full sleeve, one spaghetti strap, a deep V-neckline, cut-out, side slit. In Project Runway parlance, there’s a lot going on.
Gwendoline Christie
From the front it’s a updated black cocktail dress. From the back it’s a logistical nightmare for a seated event.
Alia Shawkat
The colors are bright but somehow this floral dress is a bit sad. You deserve better than that, Maeby.
Gaby Hoffmann
We get it. Formal wear isn’t everyone’s thing. But nightgowns are not generally red-carpet ready. The velvet shoes are on point though.
Natasha Lyonne
The old Hollywood thing is really working with her loose waves, but the white cape on black dress is so heavy we just want to scream. Throw that cape away and be free Natasha!
